Former Chief Executive Officer
Cardinal Health
Mike Kaufmann is a former Fortune 15 chief executive officer (CEO) and a longtime healthcare industry leader, an active Board Member, an engaged community member, and an executive speaker on leadership and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). He spent more than 30 years of his career at Cardinal Health, a global, integrated healthcare solutions company providing vital products, world class services and customized solutions for providers along the continuum of care.
Kaufmann is most proud of his DEI legacy, as he was instrumental in embedding DEI initiatives across the fabric of the enterprise to ensure progress will thrive well beyond his tenure. Examples include establishing the Cardinal Health Black & African American Racial Equity Cabinet and the DE&I Steering Council; publicly announcing the company’s 2030 Representation Goals to increase manager and above representation of women and racial and ethnic populations in an effective and meaningful way; implementing executive and senior leadership goals that directly tie DEI outcomes to compensation; and more. In addition, Kaufmann was an early executive champion of the company’s Women’s Impact Network (WIN), an experience he credits with shaping his initial understanding around the importance of and passion for supporting DEI initiatives.
Kaufmann has always carried his passion for people and results well beyond the four walls of Cardinal Health. As an executive speaker, he shares lessons on leadership; coaching on business and operations; and advocates for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) as not only the right focus areas for leaders, but also the smart choice for businesses looking to achieve better performance and increased innovation.
