Dawnita Wilson currently serves as the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion officer at WETA (Greater Washington Educational Telecommunications Association), the leading public broadcaster in the nation’s capital and the second-largest producing station for public television in the United States.
As WETA’s Chief DEI Officer, Dawnita is responsible for developing and leading the organizations multi-year strategy and driving sustainable behavioral and cultural change. As a member of the executive leadership team, Dawnita works closely with WETA’s CEO and other key stakeholders to advance DEI across all programs and services throughout WETA and its subsidiary, NewsHour Productions.
Dawnita has been a successful DEI leader for over 15 years and has worked across multiple industries within Global and U.S. based organizations, including Sodexo (one of the world’s largest food service and facilities management companies), Highmark, UPMC, and others. As a trusted thought leader and business partner, she has successfully implemented transformational frameworks that have been the catalyst for advancing DEI efforts, both internally and externally.
Dawnita holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s Degree from La Roche University in Pittsburgh. She has also maintained her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification since 2006.
