La Keisha Landrum Pierre is the General Partner and Co-Founder of Emmeline Ventures, a pioneering early-stage VC fund dedicated to empowering female founders and businesses focusing on women’s health, wealth, and well-being. In a sector where women receive less than 2% of all VC funding, Emmeline Ventures stands out by strategically investing in companies that drive significant societal change and enhance life for women globally.
Additionally, La Keisha serves as the Chairwoman of Sahara Reporters Media Group, a leading digital platform in West Africa committed to enhancing transparency in African governance. Before founding Emmeline Ventures, she was the Managing Director at NLA Ventures and the CEO of Sahara Reporters. At Sahara, she co-founded the Civic Media Lab in collaboration with notable entities such as the MacArthur Foundation and the Omidyar Network, successfully raising millions and forging substantial international partnerships.
Throughout her career, La Keisha has consistently driven innovation in digital and media storytelling. Her notable achievements include founding the Civic Media Lab, partnering with institutions like the MacArthur Foundation and the MIT Center for Civic Media, and nurturing significant global relationships. In her earlier roles, she served as the Chief Operating Officer at The Harbus at Harvard Business School, overseeing a multi-million dollar endowment focused on media and digital literacy as part of the Harbus Foundation.
La Keisha also co-founded two startups at the Harvard Innovation Lab, contributing to a healthcare startup that achieved a successful exit. Her extensive research experience includes a time at Harvard Law School’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. She has also played a vital role in public service, working in the administration of Cambridge, MA’s first black LGBTQ mayor. Her career demonstrates a profound dedication to creating sustainable businesses, optimizing operations, and generating impactful financial returns on a global scale.
