Joy is an IBM Human Resources Leader and leading expert on building diverse, inclusive, equitable, purpose-driven workplaces. She is a compassionate advocate who leads with empathy, respect, and love to build a culture of togetherness and a sense of belonging for employees. 

Her work is focused on advancing people-centered organizations and innovating diversity, talent, and learning practices with the mission to transform IBM’s diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.

In this role, Joy is a strategic partner and ally to the company’s Chief Diversity Officer, HR centers of excellence, business line executives, and external associations. She develops, manages, and monitors the diversity programs across IBM, including one of the largest company-wide communities for learning and engagement that encompasses more than 50,000 IBMers in over 200 employee groups across 50 countries. These workplace programs have earned IBM prolonged recognition as one of the top companies for championing diversity, equality, and fairness policies. 

Joy holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the Ohio State University and a Master of Human Resource Management from Florida International University where she received top-class honors and the prestigious Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) scholarship award. She earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University in 2021. Her practice and research fields involve diversity, inclusion, organizational trust, and employee engagement.

As part of her professional growth, Joy maintains certification credentials as SHRM-SCP Senior Certified Professional, SPHR Senior Professional in Human Resources, and serves as a member of the Advisory Board for FIU Chapman Graduate School of Business. 

Joy’s education and experience have made her an influencer and catalyst for change as both an industry-recognized spokesperson and keynote speaker at large internal and external company events. She is proud to be at the forefront of the inclusivity movement at IBM and in the world.
