Marika McCauley Sine
Marika McCauley Sine is a global sustainability leader with expertise in driving business growth while delivering positive societal impact. She is a recognized advocate for business action at the intersection of corporate interests and social good, with a track-record of bringing people together across sectors and building award-winning initiatives that have positively impacted the lives of millions of people. Marika is Chief Sustainability Officer of Mars Petcare, a segment of Mars, Incorporated, a family-owned business that for more than a century has made products and delivered services for people and the pets they love, with $45 billion in annual sales. Mars Petcare is a leader in pet health and nutrition and a major veterinary health care provider, with a global network of over 2,000 pet hospitals.
Based in London, Marika leads Petcare’s social, environmental and governance strategies and programs worldwide, bringing together teams across geographies and functions to progress the ambitious Mars Sustainable in a Generation Plan. This work focuses on climate action, circular packaging, sustainable sourcing and reaching pets in need around the world. Previously, Marika served as global vice president leading social and economic sustainability for Mars, Incorporated, based at the company’s headquarters in Washington, DC.
Marika joined Mars in 2015 after a decade at The Coca-Cola Company, where she drove groundbreaking sustainability strategies and programs including 5by20, a global initiative to unlock economic opportunities for women entrepreneurs in emerging markets that has reached 6 million women to date. She began her career addressing poverty in rural communities in Southeast Asia at Oxfam America – one of the world’s leading global development and humanitarian non-profits.
Marika holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. She is a First Mover Fellow of The Aspen Institute in recognition of her track record as a ‘social-intrapreneur’ and serves on the Board of Directors of The Royal Canin Foundation and the Advisory Board of Delterra. She has co-chaired a global industry action platform at the Consumer Goods Forum and has completed sustainability leadership courses at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) and Oxford Said Business School. Marika and her husband have three sons, ages 15, 11 and 9, and an energetic Golden Retriever. She is originally from Hawaii and has previously lived in Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Sri Lanka.
