Dr. Lena Mass-Cresnik is the Chief Data Officer and a Managing Director at Moelis & Company, where she oversees the Firm’s Data Science and Analytics business function within Investment Banking. Lena has nearly 20 years of experience creating innovative, cross-functional financial and technology solutions — covering AI/ML, data science & analytics, digital, FinTech, investment products, R&D, cloud, mobility, and automation among others — across the financial services industry. Previously, Lena was the Head of Technology Strategy and Technology Research & Development in the Office of the CTO at Charles Schwab. She also oversaw new Developer recruitment and training. Prior to that, Lena was the Global Head of Innovation in Technology and Head of Innovation in Strategic Investment Product Management at BlackRock, where she focused on institutional and retail investment products, technologies, and services. There she developed investment products and established a new technology engagement strategy & model focused on emergent technologies, start-ups, products and services, and evaluated their feasibility and commercial viability globally. Dr. Lena Mass-Cresnik holds a D.Phil./Ph.D. from the University of Oxford, where she focused on complex systems. She also holds an M.S. in Policy & Management from Harvard University and a B.A. in Economics from Wellesley College.
