Carla Taylor-Pla, MBA, MS.J.

Carla Taylor-Pla, MBA, MS.J., is Founder and Owner of Carla and Liv KIDS (2.0) Marketing Group, dedicated to the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans, business development strategies, and brand management. She started her career as a broadcast journalist for network affiliates in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Following that, she worked to improve educational opportunities for children as a policy advocate for high quality early childhood education in Washington, DC, where she developed Congressional testimony and received commendations from lawmakers including the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy. In addition, Carla served on the leadership team that launched the number one educational programming brand, PBS KIDS, for Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). More recently, she worked for The Washington Post where she managed advertising promotions.

As a working mother, Carla recognized the need for more user-friendly, engaging and diverse content options to help parents support their children’s first-time transitions into school, i.e., preschool and kindergarten. Her dedication to child development and family engagement led her to launch Carla and Liv KIDS, LLC, which provides guidance to parents and children during the first-time transition into early education settings. She is a speaker on the subject, having reached thousands of parents nationwide, and author of a book series, SCHOOL IS NEW TO ME: A Beginner’s Guide to Starting School, which includes bilingual (English-Spanish) versions.

She also holds a design patent for her book, which she intends to use to help her Carla and Liv KIDS (2.0) Marketing Group clients reach their audience engagement goals.

Carla sits on the Board of the Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation; is a member of the Yale Club of Washington, DC; mentors students from American University’s Kogod School of Business; and volunteers for the DC Humane Society.

She lives with her husband, daughter and rescue dog. Carla is always happy to grab a cup of coffee (virtual or otherwise) to connect with other professionals.

Ms. Taylor-Pla holds a BA from Yale University, an M.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University (Medill School of Journalism), and an MBA from American University.
