Joanna Guy lives in Northwest Washington D.C. where she works as a Defense Marketing Analyst at Booz Allen Hamilton. Prior to her current role, she worked in marketing and strategy for Modzy – an artificial intelligence startup born out of Booz Allen. Joanna studied Government and Music as an undergrad at Cornell University, where she performed with Cornell chorus and a cappella, served as the research assistant to a leading immigration scholar, and did a semester in DC to intern for Senator Cardin on Capitol Hill. In her senior year at Cornell, Joanna won the title of Miss Maryland. In this role, she organized large-scale fundraisers, served as a professional public speaker at ~150 schools, civic groups, and community organizations, and placed in the top 10 at Miss America. After college, Joanna spent several years traveling the world as the Marketing Lead for Premier Rides, a global roller coaster manufacturer. In 2019, Joanna graduated from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. During her time there, she started her own business as an MBA admissions coach.
Joanna serves as a mentor for Running Start and the Women’s Leadership Ring. She also volunteers with Compass, doing strategy consulting for nonprofits in the DMV. She is a member of Booz Allen’s Green Office Teams where she advocates for sustainable business practices and supports company-wide green initiatives.
Outside of work and volunteering, Joanna is a living history performer, musician, mountain biker, and yogi. She is a self-described mycophile and dendrophile, and is passionate about environmental sustainability and preservation of old growth forests. She enjoys visiting museums and exhibits in DC, dancing with friends on the weekends, and snuggling with her 3-year-old cat, Gracie Grey.
