Hope Johnson

Hope Johnson is an experienced Global Finance Leader with a consistent record of increasing responsibility in the private sector. Ms. Johnson is uniquely skilled in business and financial management, controllership, business pricing, revenue/sales planning, risk management and strategic planning. Known for effective execution and remaining calm under pressure. She is a recognized “Change Leader” with significant experience and results in driving transformation. Ms. Johnson has held leadership and management responsibilities across multiple US and Global organizations leveraging a collaborative style to develop, coach, mentor and develop strong teams. 

As a CFO and Finance leader, Ms. Johnson has had significant Corporate Board exposure and experience. She led IBM’s Board process which included planning, coordinating and preparing IBM’s CEO, CFO and other Senior leaders for Board meetings and presentations. As the Finance leader for IBM’s Growth Initiatives and CFO of several business units, Hope has had hands-on experience with the Board process and presentations. In her current capacity as CFO and Treasurer of Haven Technologies, Ms. Johnson is responsible for all Financial and Business presentations and communications to the Boards of Haven Technologies and MassMutual. Hope Johnson has served on several non-profit boards and has held leadership positions in a number of organizations and corporate initiatives. 

Currently, Ms. Johnson is the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Haven Technologies, an Insurtech SaaS startup and a Subsidiary of MassMutual. In this role she is focused on building the finance organization and creating the financial management processes. She also leads strategic business modeling and pricing. Hope and her team lead the financial and business communications with the parent company MassMutual. 

Previously, Ms. Johnson served as Vice President and Assistant Controller, Business Controls at IBM, where she managed the Controls and Risk Management program across all IBM Business Units and Geographies. She held several other leadership roles at IBM and The Hartford Insurance Group including: CFO of IBM’s Global Delivery Organization, CFO of IBM’s Sales Integration Organization, Chief of Staff to IBM’s Controller, Finance Leader for IBM’s Growth Initiatives, North America Revenue and Sales Manager and AVP/Strategic Controller of The Hartford P&Cs Organization. 

Ms. Johnson has been a mentor for high school students for several years. Most recently she has been engaged in developing a mentoring program with Manchester High School in Jamaica. She has a vested interest in diversity and was a founding member of the IBM Poughkeepsie Black Diversity Group (Spectrum). She also led IBM Ireland’s Multicultural Diversity efforts as a member of Ireland’s Diversity Council. Hope served as an Executive Sponsor for IBM’s Black Women in Finance and Operation organization. Hope was a founding member and president of Jamaica Impact, Inc (JAMPACT) a US based non-for-profit organization dedicated to improving basic school education in Jamaica. Hope has been a lifelong Girl Scouts/Girl Guide. 

Ms. Johnson received her BSc. in Management with First Class Honors from The University of The West Indies. She received her MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School earning Beta Gamma Sigma Honors designation. 

A native of Jamaica, West Indies, Ms. Johnson has studied and worked in Jamaica, USA and UK & Ireland.
